María Luisa Padilla Pastor was born one cool July morning in 1951 in the Cordoba town of Cabra, Spain. The second daughter of four sisters, María Luisa lost her father at the age of two. Perhaps for this reason, she left her family home early to begin her studies and, at the age of 6, she entered a school in Malaga, where she studied until she was 16 years old. He took his university entrance courses in Aranjuez (Madrid) and, in 1968, he entered the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the Complutense University with the intention of studying History. However, three years later he changed the course of his studies to begin a career in Psychology. At some point he commented with his children and friends that this decision cost him very little to make because he discovered that he found the history of the living much more interesting than the history of the dead.
