Abstract

The goal of this paper is the comparison of several philosophies of the mind thatare very influential in modern Psychology: (1) identity theory (specially inthe davidsonian way), (2) eliminationism, (3) Fodor's intentional functionalism, (4) and Putnam's environmental sociologism. This work is a critical revision of each themin orderto correct these conceptions about mind, matter, and the coordination between them, in (1) and (2) from a materialistic point of view, and to contest the fodorian mentalistic philosophy (3). But we also criticise the sociologistic conception of Putnam (4), although we make this our strating point for our conciluding remarks.
