About the Journal

Aims & Scope. Academic and Professional Psychology publishes science in Spanish

Apuntes de Psicología is a four-monthly scientific journal published since 1982 by the Colegio Oficial de Psicología de Andalucía Occidental (Official Association of Psychologists of Western Andalusia, Spain) and currently co-published by the Universities of Cadiz, Cordoba, Huelva and Seville.

It publishes, in print and electronic versions, peer-reviewed research papers, as well as other texts and documents of interest, highlighting the essential complementarity between the academic and professional areas of Psychology.

Apuntes de Psicología is published in Spanish and may also be published in English in its digital version (see "Author Guidelines" for information on possible bilingual publication). It is distributed to all university libraries of Psychology in Spain, and its electronic version enjoys wide dissemination and readership both in Spain and in Spanish-speaking countries of the  Americas.

Open Access Policy

Apuntes de Psicología provides free and immediate access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters greater global knowledge exchange.

As an open access journal, all content is freely available at no cost to the user or their institution. Similarly, publishing in Apuntes de Psicología does not entail any financial cost for the authors of each article or document.

Apuntes de Psicología authorizes any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, to harvest them for indexing, to pass them as data to computer programs, or to use them for any other lawful purpose, without prior permission from the publisher or the authors, in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. Partial or full reproduction of an article’s content must, in any case, acknowledge the authorship and the source of publication through the corresponding citation.

The published content is subject to the Creative Commons 4.0 CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International) license. The individuals listed as authors retain the intellectual property of the published works, although the rights of first publication belong to Apuntes de Psicología. This implies that the journal may proceed with the public communication of the article through free online dissemination via the internet, portals, and electronic devices, providing users with free access for online consultation, printing, downloading, and archiving, thus guaranteeing free and open access to the publication. Additionally, authors of the works may also disseminate the article through any channels or media they deem appropriate, provided that the original publication by the journal is acknowledged, citing the volume and issue of publication. This includes, but is not limited to, institutional repositories, web repositories, compilations, or personal webpages.

The above characteristics, together with peer review, make Apuntes de Psicología meet all the conditions to be considered a diamond open access publication, the highest category among open access journals.

Conditions for storing “pre-prints”: The pre-publication version of an article (before submission for publication) may be shared at any time and in any place. Sharing a pre-published article on, for example, a pre-print server will not be considered prior publication. Therefore, before the definitive publication of the work, authors are encouraged to store and share their pre-print version of the article on their personal or institutional websites, social media, servers, citation managers, etc. Once the final version is published, if the pre-print version is still available in a repository, the following statement should be added: “This is the electronic version of a work published in Apuntes de Psicología (year, volume, issue). The definitive version is available on the journal’s official website”, preferably including the full published reference with its DOI.

Authors are also encouraged to share the “post-print” version (properly cited) or the final version of their work on their social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), university and/or public servers (Mendeley, Cosis, etc.), scientific social networks (ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Kudos, etc.), personal and institutional websites, blogs, Google Scholar, ORCID, Publons, ScopusID, etc.

Gender Equity Policy

Apuntes de Psicología is committed to making the scientific and professional contributions of women to the advancement and development of Psychology even more visible in its pages.

To this end, from 2025 the journal’s publication guidelines will include the requirement to state the full name of each author — not merely the initial — in the reference lists of all published articles.

From a gender perspective, the journal recommends and values the inclusion, whenever possible and/or relevant, of a sex/gender analysis throughout the different sections of the works submitted for publication.

Ownership, Governance and Funding

Apuntes de Psicología is owned by the Colegio Oficial de Psicología de Andalucía Occidental (Official Association of Psychologists of Western Andalusia, https://www.copao.es/), which covers in its annual budget all production, maintenance, dissemination, and improvement expenses of the journal.

The Governing Board of the Colegio Oficial de Psicología de Andalucía Occidental appoints the members of the Editorial Board and is informed by it of the appointments and withdrawals within the Advisory Board. In accordance with co-publishing agreements with the Universities of Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva and Seville, the Colegio Oficial de Psicología de Andalucía Occidental guarantees the presence of academic staff from the Psychology Departments of these universities on the Editorial Board of the journal.

The Editorial Board makes the journal’s editorial policy decisions and is responsible for all editorial actions and resolutions.

The Editorial Board is accountable to the Governing Board of the Colegio Oficial de Psicología de Andalucía Occidental.

Since 2022, Apuntes de Psicología has been functionally integrated into the Psicofundación Editorial Group of the Consejo General de la Psicología de España (General Council of Psychology of Spain) (https://www.psicofundacion.es/servicios/gep-landing-completa/). Since that date, while maintaining its editorial independence, its editorial policies have been aligned with those of the Psicofundación Editorial Group.

Preservation and Archiving Policy

Apuntes de Psicología has its own website, from which full access to the complete archive of the journal’s published contents is available.

It also benefits from the content preservation services of PKP/OJS (https://pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/) and from the editorial repositories of the University of Seville (https://editorial.us.es/es) and the University of Cordoba (https://www.uco.es/servicios/ucopress/index.php/es/).
