Abstract

An army of small screens has invaded homes, businesses, professional offices, and schools in the most developed countries. The use of computers has replaced the typewriter and paper filing system, and email has taken the place of handwritten letters. Practices that were part of everyday professional life just ten years ago are disappearing so rapidly that it seems they never belonged to our experience, and those that replace them will probably be forgotten before we have time to feel mastery over them.
