Foreword. Clinical psychology and Public Health System: A reflection upon the participation of psychologist

Abstract

Following the beginning of the mental healthcare reform in Andalusia, there was a significant influx of psychologists into the healthcare system. The creation of the Andalusian Institute of Mental Health (IASAM) in 1984 led to the reorganization and coordination of existing resources in this field. It also introduced new approaches to mental illness and alternative intervention models to the existing care practices.

In this monograph, we examine the complex practices of psychology professionals in mental healthcare by analyzing experiences in specific services.

We hope that the content of this monograph will contribute to the debate on the integration of clinical psychology professionals into the public health system in Spain.
