Children with autism and intellectual disabilities who are learning to read and write

The intervention applied by parents of children with intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) shows positive results for learning. The systematic and constant supervision of the investigator together parents can ensure better training. The general objective was to evaluate the performance of reading and writing of children with ID and ASD, two interventions implemented by parents, supervised the researcher. In Experiment 1, the objective was to evaluate the performance of two Spanish children, individualized and computer tasks in the center where the child receives treatment. In Experiment 2, the objective was to assess the reading and writing of three Brazilian children in the child’s home, through individualized stories reading. Higher sampled children in the third test performance compared to the first, in the two experiments, which showed clear differences in methodology.
