Abstract

My most recent experience in Andalusia, based in Seville, has confirmed to me the unavoidable necessity of establishing a strong connection between university theory and the professional practice of psychology graduates.

Although the theory-practice dichotomy may seem meaningless to us, the reality is that we are supplying society with theoretical ‘professionals’ who also face the pressing challenge of securing employment. This is undoubtedly an obligatory task for any graduate; yet, it currently comes accompanied by the hardships inherent in a society undergoing structural crisis. We run the reckless risk of “forging” psychologists disconnected from their social environment and, above all, lacking the tools necessary to construct their professional sphere in alignment with the real needs of the community that funds their education.
