Abstract

The keynote address that opened the series of oral communications comprising Area 2: Educational Psychology at our First Congress was delivered by Pablo Del Río and focused on the updating and development of educational psychology in Spain. He began his presentation with a brief history of Spanish psychology which, in the opinion of Professor Caparrós of the University of Barcelona, has been characterised by a long period in which a philosophical psychology, with a distinctly theoretical orientation, stood in contrast to a practical domain dominated by a rather simplistic and unsophisticated approach.
