Suggestions for the training of clinical psychologists in Seville

Abstract

For many years, numerous psychology students and graduates wishing to undertake practical training have come to my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service. Although this service has always had a predominantly clinical focus and has operated with very limited staff and resources, we welcomed them with the best of intentions. Whenever possible, we never denied anyone entry, and we never had cause to regret it; on the contrary, it has always been a source of personal satisfaction and, I believe, the origin of lasting friendships. Recently, having had to leave the aforementioned service due to illness, I am pleased to note that my successor continues with the same spirit of openness and hospitality.

This experience has brought me into direct contact with the practical challenges currently facing psychology in Seville. This, and nothing else, justifies my presence here.
