At a time of reassessment in the field of special education, such as the one currently taking place in our country, it is necessary to be aware not only of present contingencies but also to investigate the recent past, when the first educational initiatives with children then referred to as abnormal were introduced. This study seeks to systematise the existing bibliography on special education in 19th-century Seville.
